Tasting Notes
A classic take on Pinot Gris, this refreshing sipper offers lovely white floral aromatics delicately interwoven with subtle tropical notes. Guava, kiwi, white peach, and lychee jump from the glass, while fresh Meyer lemon and citrus blossom come through on the palate, supported by a flinty minerality. Winemaking
The grapes were night harvested into small bins and rushed to the winery to retain fruit freshness and purity. After gentle, whole-cluster pressing, the juice was transferred to 75-gallon stainless steel barrels for fermentation. It matured undisturbed, sur lie for four months, enhancing the silky texture and mouthfeel, before a very gentle bottling. The wine never touches oak and does not undergo malolactic fermentation.Vintage
Despite some memorably atypical factors, the 2020 season was another successful vintage. It was a warm, dry winter and the rain and cooler weather didn’t arrive until the end of March. While the mild spring provided a great early start, the winery followed extensive safety protocols due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Summer brought very cool mornings and very warm days. Harvest was interrupted by wildfires across California, which came just as grapes started to be picked. We were very fortunate that none of our vineyards were in the active fire areas.
