“The 2018 Petite Sirah Ne Cede Malis is composed of 85% Petite Sirah and 15% other varieties. Deep garnet-purple in color, it needs some coaxing to unlock notes of stewed black plums, fruitcake and fertile loam, with hints of truffles, tapenade and tar. Medium-bodied with a firm, tannic backbone and tons of freshness supporting the taut, muscular fruit, it finishes long and minerally. Give it a good five years in bottle, at least, then drink it over the next 20 years+.” - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, November 30, 2021
“ Really dark and smoky character here, with notes of ripe dark and blue fruit, wet earth, vanilla, pepper, chocolate and tar. Full-bodied, polished and tight. The viscous tannin structure holds on the palate, all the way through the firm finish, which ends with notes of walnuts and crushed stones. Try after 2024.” - James Suckling, February 2022
For Christophe Paubert, Winemaker and General Manager at Stags’ Leap Winery, the identity of a wine is found through the terroir. Christophe’s career has spanned the industry from sales to winemaking, and his impressive background includes positions at Chateau d’Yquem and Gruaud-Larose as well as projects in Chile, Spain and Washington State. But it was the terroir of Stags’ Leap that drew him to California.
