In 1900, when Georges de Latour’s wife, Fernande, first laid eyes on the land that would become their original Rutherford vineyard, she exclaimed, “quel beau lieu,” or “what a beautiful place.” Following her husband’s death in 1940, Madame de Latour took over management of the vineyards and winery for nearly thirty years. With a head for business, an exceptional palate for fine wines, and a passion for elegant entertaining, Madame de Latour set the standard for generations to come. This structured yet graceful red blend honors our extraordinary matriarch.
“Wonderful aromas of blackcurrants, black berries and ink pot. Ripe fruit, too. Aromatic. Full-bodied with round tannins and a delicious, juicy finish. Flamboyant and joyful. 76% cabernet sauvignon and 24% malbec. Drink or hold.” - James Suckling, May 4, 2022
The Napa Valley region enjoyed a stunning, near picture-perfect 2018 growing season including good winter rains, mild spring weather and steady temperatures throughout that allowed for even flowering and bud break. These ideal growing conditions were followed by a cool, even and slow-paced harvest which allowed the winery to vinify wines at a gentle pace. The resulting 2018 Cabernets are of very high quality with plenty of concentrated flavors, color and excellent acidity.
