19 Crimes is a brand that was built on authentic stories of rebellion, defiance, loyalty and perseverance. In 1788, banishment to Australiafrom the UK became the punishment of choice. If you broke any one of the 19 Crimes, you sailed on a harrowing journey where months later your fate awaited. Times were tough but these individuals were tougherand they overcame adversity and insurmountable odds to ultimately claim redemption.
Dense with bright purple hues, this wine is brooding with dark cherry, blackberry, boysenberry, chocolate, mocha, and lifted vanilla bean. This wine is mouth coating with lashings of criminally intense dark fruits supported by sweet vanillin oak and a hint of chocolate. The plush tannin structure provides persistence, balance and line to this rich and generous wine.
A warm, dry spring resulted in slightly reduced yields, however the vines adapted well. Rains in January caused little damage and provided much-needed water following a dry start to the season. The following cool, dry February weather, and warm conditions in early March, created ideal conditions for steady, even ripening. Overall, 2017 was considered an exceptional vintage producing wines full of flavour, balanced with natural acidity and ripe tannins.
